Open Question: How do you feel about the auto bailout?

The CEOs of the big 3 flew to Washington in a luxury aircraft valued at $38 million dollars yesterday to beg for another $25 billion to help their industry, instead of filing for bankruptcy to relieve their debt and restructure their company, salvage the jobs, and make a more competitive product. We'd like stay in a central zone with easy access to metro e bus, with pub and restaurant close. We have 80£ budget for room(double)/night and we don't search a "luxury hotel" but only a clean room for snooze. * Victoria St. - Bayswater - Kensington - Paddington are the best choices? *Which is the best nice of travel card ? The last day (9 dec) we have the flight departure at 7.50 from Stansted Airport, which is the best way to reach the airport. Terravision Bus or Train?? (i read that with terravision bus it's necessary go to the bus station 3 hours before flight departure)... Thanks every for your answer..

Resolved Question: Do you believe experiences expressed in this poem really happen?

Flight Confirmed The last sensation felt before snooze arrived was my body sinking into the mattress as though being pushed down then a lightness of being I was here and then I was there three thousand miles away in the blink an eye a wrinkle of time Looking His six foot two frame sprawled on the floor the odor of vomit barely more putrid than the odor of booze Alone Still Gone The luxury of holding his head was not afforded nor were tears allowed Only a silent scream I awakened before the phone confirmed what spirit's flight revealed

Open Question: Why do people keep comparing our economic state of affairs to that of the great depression?

Look, I know things are bad. I have friends who've lost businesses, and I know a lot of people out of work. What bothers me though is that people continue to compare the times of now to that of the great depression. Over the next four years, things will be bad. But they won't be anything like that of the great depression. Common sense dictates this. Here's why. 1. SEC regulations were not in place at the time of the great depression. We have multiple safeguards that were not in place until the mid 30's. 2. We have more of a global economy now. If the U.S. economy were to collapse, we would still continue importing and exporting goods and services from overseas. 3. We are 75 years years more educated than we were then. We have 75 years of successes and mistakes to reflect upon. 4. One of the worst things about the great depression is that it was the first. There was no finish line in sight. People didn't know they would actually look better days. Even if I' were wrong about the three over, and I'm not, we would still know there's a finish line here. We would know that the mid 2010's would be like the 40's. In the 40's the U.S. showed some of the most significant growth ever. We would have the 10's to look forward to. Realisticly, what will happen here is that we'll give up luxury items. We'll stay at the Days-inn as opposed to the Hampton-inn. We'll drink absolute as opposed to Kettel one. We'll steer our cars for 200,000 miles as opposed to 100,000. We'll fix things as opposed to replace things. Custom rims will be a thing of the past. Deals will be what's envyed over "bling". This next 5 years will be nothing like the great depression. Why do so many people think otherwise?

Open Question: A firm’s production function is y = 2x1 + x2 ?

What would the firm’s conditional input demand functions be (given a fixed y)? Is this a problem of interest? In other words: are there any detailed examples of a firm facing such a minimization problem? Downsizing end last 19, luxury goods How would one explain intuitively what should happen in terms of conditional input demands for a rise in w1 (w2 being constant). Is this intuition confirmed if you do the comparative statics with the firm’s conditional input demand you just derived. How would an output expansion plan and both the conditional demand for input 1 and 2, be drawn. Is the firm having constant return to scale? Open Question: WHY am I Jealous of Boyfriend's Financial status?

I've been dating my boyfriend for a little over a year and since the beginning I have not felt comfortable about our different economic backgrounds. In short, He's wealthy and I'm needy. We're both 22 and in college. He lives with his parents and doesn't have to worry about money. Little things bother me, for example: this christmas he's going to paris with his family and I can't afford the luxury of even flying back home for thanksgiving. I try not to let it show, but it does and I can't help it. The other problem is, not only is his family (and him) wealthy, but they're stingy. He makes it known when he's spending money on something and has to clip coupons and demand a lower price every time. I'm fine with this last part because that's what i've been doing every my life, but it's just that I can never expect anything nice from him. For our anniversary he was going to buy me a $25 promise ring. Is it bad that I receive so jealous when he travels to paris or mexico and has been to a lot of places, because i haven't been outside of the US? I'm not asking to be showered with gifts, I'm just asking that he not mention how much he spent at dinner, when I don't mention it when I buy dinner. The main that bothers me is not the gifts or the money, its the fact that he has more advantages than I do. He graduated this past may and I'm still in school. He can sit around every day and not worry about when he's getting into med school and I have to work my ass off just to pay off loans from my freshman year. He can go to Paris for christmas and not really care about going, and I'm just glad to go home for christmas (I'm in rochester and from texas). I've always wanted to go to paris, I studied french in high school and college, but could never afford to go. Is it bad that I'm jealous that he's getting to go and I'm not?

Open Question: Why is it that when a black rapper wears Gucci or Burberry it's cool, but when a white guy wears it he's gay?

I mean you look these black rappers every the time wearing Burberry, Gucci, YSL, Fendi in music videos, and in real life and they brag about it and rap about every those brands and everyone thinks they're "PIMP" or "GANGSTA", but when an average white guy wears those brands, or even brings up fashion everyone assumes he must be gay. For example: Nelly can name drop Gucci in a tune like "Hot in Herre", and wear a Gucci cap in a music video like "Dilemma" or a Gucci shirt with the words "GUCCI" in big print across his chest and no one will think twice. Or Jay-Z can rap about numerous luxury brands, and Ja Rule can wear Burberry shirts with the check pattern every over it with a Burberry cap and he's chilly. Basically black guys can be little pretty boys and everyone thinks he's straight, but if you aren't black, a rapper or G@NG$T@ then you're automatically gay it seems. Any thoughts on this?

Open Question: Can I have some advice from breastfeeding mommies who work?

Ever since I started back to work (6 weeks post partum), I have had issues with my supply. It hasn't been really bad, but I can never quite pump as much as she eats while I'm gone. Just when my supply seems to receive going okay, something happens to wreck it (power outage for a week from storm meant I couldn't pump at night and added stress, I switched pumps and the new one didn't work as well, etc.). My daughter is 3.5 months old (16 weeks) and was eating 3-4 3 oz bottles of expressed milk while I was at gone for 9 hours. After she eats a bottle, she screams bloody murder like someone has stuck her with a needle. She cries for about a minute while getting burped and then she is fine. She doesn't seem hungry after that. Well, since she was getting so mad, I thought maybe she needed bigger bottles. I started leaving her 4 oz. bottles, but my fiance says that she cries just as difficult after the 4oz just like the 3oz. My problem is I can barely make enough for 3 oz bottles and trying to make enough for 4 oz bottles just doesn't seem to be working. When did you increase your baby's intake of expressed milk? If she seems content (after the sob) would you mess with it? As for my supply, I have already been doing every trick in the book. Here's what I do: Taking fenugreek, 3 pills, 3x a day. Drinking mom's Milk Tea 2x a day. Eating a big bowl of oatmeal every morning Eating Quaker on the go oatmeal squares for snacks throughout the day. Drinking a lot of water every day and eating fairly healthy. Before pumping, I massage my breasts and take calming breaths Before pumping, I put warm cloths on my breasts. While pumping, I have a CD of my daughter crying that I hear to. While pumping, I odor an article of clothing worn by my daughter the day before and look at pictures. While pumping, I continue to massage my breasts. While pumping, I sometimes just try to relax and read something to take my mind off of it. And I don't have the luxury of taking time off just to breastfeed for a few days to receive my supply up. Should I just go back to 3 oz bottles?

Open Question: Can you hear the Wood speaking to you?

The wood has many voices and no man, Not even a companion hears the same voice. Man cannot know her unless he understands Her. Trees talk as we walk beneath their Leafy canopy, yet who is there that understands The language with they talk. Who is there That can hear the sap rise within the trunk Of the oak or the beech, when the beat of Our their possess heart drowns out that which Would be more pleasing to the ear. Having the time to stand and think yourself As part of the wood is one of life's sweetest Luxuries. Yet it asks no question and gives No answers, it will accommodate us but Can just as easily do without us. Does the Mountain keep that which we toss at it In voice, no, it throws it right back seven Fold. It does not need us to talk but to hear, and to hear again to catch the sound Of its breathing for the mountain is alive as Is the wood. Nature can be like an ocean, Monotonous only to the ignorant. In the end We conserve only what we adore. We will adore only what we understand, and understand Only that what the woods, the mountains, rivers, Fields tutor us, even a blade of grass if only We use the power of our brain. Darned if I can remember if I have not submitted some thng like this before.

Open Question: Give advice on I-131 Re-Entry Permit to US?

My wife is an Asian national who holds an IR-1 status temporary visa to the U.S. But we are not yet ready to go there to live. I have signed a contract to work in Asia for two years (which also happens to be the maximum time she is allowed to stay outside the U.S. before she must permanently enter the country. To maintain her status as an intending immigrant she must go through Customs at a US port of entry and then we must file an I-131 Re-Entry allow with a local post office. No problem there. The problem arises when we leave. I must return in one week to my job so we don't have the luxury of waiting around for the USCIS/DHS middle to process her application. We were told, however, that it could be mailed to us for pick-up at the embassy in the Asian nation where we are living. What I need to know is this: Will my wife be jeopardizing her immigrant status if she returns with me before her I-131 form is approved? It would seem to me that it shouldn't be a problem but perhaps it is. Anyone familiar with this process who can advise ASAP? Many thanks in advance.

Resolved Question: 6 year old neutered male keeps peeing on the carpet?

Ok my boyfreind has a 6 year old neutered male cat and for some reason he has an attraction to plush carpets. A few years back we changed the carpet in his apartment from an indoor/outdoor to a more plush carpet and his cat kept going to the bathroom on it. We cleaned it then with Natures Miricle but his care was even more attracted to that and peed every over where ever the nature miricle touched. This was such a big pee stain (almost the length of my height and the width of a tiny child) that we had to tear it up and leave the wood floor down. one time he peed on my puff down winter coat. Then recently I moved in and we put down a toss carpet which was almost as evenly plush and he peed every over that too. So that went into the trash. Then this morning when I was in the shower my boyfriend left the bathroom door open after brushing his teeth and his cat peed on the brand new Plush bathmat. Diferent fibers from the other carpets but just as soft. He doesnt pee on the old indoor/outdoor carpet that is still in the bedroom or hallway, not on the bed, not on the tile, and not on the wood floor. We dont know what is causing this behavior but I need it to cease. It is driving me bonkers. I can't do anything nice to the apartment. I have only had to deal with my good cat NEVER using the home as a toilet ...except when he was mad at me he would potto in the tub which he believed was his luxury litter box, but thats easily taken care of! What can I do to make him cease? We have tried catching him and scolding him and the whole spray bottle technique. Please tell me someone knows where this behavior is comming from. Could it be the texture below his paws??? It cant be the scent because the first carpet came from one place, the other came from biglots, the coat was mine and smelled like me and he doesnt potty on anything else of mine ever, and the bath mat came from bed bath and beyond... so they every have diferent scents. Please help me! Hes been peeing on carpets since He lived at his dads, then still when he moved, and still now since I moved in

Resolved Question: Does this seem like "responsible government " --- and who out ranks who - ?

By Tim Naumtez, The Canadian Press OTTAWA - After arts cuts that sparked a furor in the federal election campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper is dispatching Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean on a two-week tour of European countries to promote art and cultural links with Canada. But the round of state visits is drawing criticism because airfare and hotel bills alone for Jean, her husband, staff and a delegation of nine prominent Canadians in the art, culture and social scene will likely total well over $100,000. Critics say that in light of thousands of job layoffs in Ontario and other regions because of the economic slump and global financial uncertainty, it's the wrong time for luxury travel. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/081117/national/gov_gen_trip ------------------------- 1 ) Is spending 100,000 plus a responsible thing for the PM to be doing to make up for an mistake he made during the election that he had to take back ? - Plus - the fact that things aren't so good right now is this a wise move of the PM ? 2) Who the hell is the PM - to dispatch the GG - isn't that a little backwards in the power structures of the nation ? Open Question: English Law - Contract Question (Scenario)?

Viv has just bought "The Village store" and, anxious to please the locals, decides to put an advertisement in the local paper stating that she will sell boxes of luxury chocolate shortbread at a discount price of £2.50, instead of the recommended retail price of £5.00. It also states that there are only 50 boxes available. Viv has recently bought a computer from her son, Scott, to help her with the running of the store. The advertisement states that anyone wanting the shortbread should contact Viv in person at the store or Email her at Viv@village store.co.uk. The advertisement appears in the local paper on Saturday. Eric sees the advertisement at 4.30pm on the Saturday afternoon and immediately sends an Email to Viv ordering six boxes of the shortbread. The Email is received on Viv's machine at 5.09pm on the Saturday. On Saturday evening Viv realises that the discount was too generous as she is making no money on the shortbread and people are not coming to the store and buying lots of other groceries as she had hoped. She phones the local paper asking them to put notice in the next day informing people that the discount price is no longer available. The Sunday paper is published at 9am on Sunday morning and it is delivered to Eric at 10.30am. Viv opens for business at 10.00am on the Sunday. She reads Eric's Email at 10.35am, but refuses to sell him the shortbread. She replies stating that the discount is no longer available. Eric sued Viv for breach of contract but at first instance the judge found for Viv on the following basis: There was no contract between Viv and Eric since the notice in the paper was not an offer but invitation to treat. Find arguments against this decision.

Open Question: Don't you find it fishy that a Christian is always required to attend church (subsequently donate money)?

A christian is told (by the church, indirectly, or directly) that he must convert others into christians. So what is the catch here? The church is very smart indeed. The church really knows how to receive its customers. The christians are ofcourse the "de facto" salesmen of the church. If you look at as a business, it is a very profitable one indeed! every it need is a household and a preacher! Its salesmen (christians) not only work for the church for free, they also pay the church! Wow! Hate to burst the bubble, but the owner of most churches (mostly the preacher himself) steer luxury cars and live in mansions behind your backs! This is a fact, I've seen it with my possess eyes. I've warned you, but it is your CHOICE whether you want to continue being used or not....GOOD NIGHT

My son is 5 year old. His pal will have a 5-year- old very luxury birthday party. but I don't want have the same luxury birthday party for my son like his pal has. If I go to the party, and my son doesn't have the same luxury one, I am afraid of my son won't be glad for jealousy. but if I don't go to the party, and the boy's mom is my pal, I think she won't be glad for my absence of her son's birthday party.

Open Question: Black tie event for New Years Eve in Waterloo, Toronto or somewhere in between.?

My girlfriends and I want to go somewhere dressed up for new years. More like a ball feeling rather then just a club. Like a black tie event and give the feeling of luxury. Is there anyplace that they do this? Like the movies where millionaires go and such. But obviously millionaires wont be where we are but I just want that feeling. Also, is there anyway to receive into those parties?
